Rather than coming in the form of a new series release or DLC, 2K Games has announced that BioShock Infinite: Complete Edition will soon be making its way onto store shelves. This re-release of the budding classic will come complete with the game itself and each of the released pieces of DLC. This includes both episodes of Burial At Sea (check out our reviews of episode one and two), the Clash in the Clouds arena challenge mode, and the equipment that was part of the Early Bird Special and Columbia’s Finest Packs.

It really is bitter-sweet to see BioShock Infinite’s name back in the news. On the one hand, it’s quite the engaging experience (check out our review), but on the other hand it’s a reminder of Irrational’s restructuring. From System Shock 2 to BioShock Infinite, they’ve had a hand in some of the most enduring games to permeate this industry. One can only hope that whatever comes next for them will be equally as exciting.

Reminiscing of PC games past aside, it’s becoming more and more difficult to avoid playing this title. Whether you consider it a masterclass in establishing setting or are quick to point out its shallow gunplay, it’s hard to deny the impact that Bioshock Infinite has had in the past year. With an ending that has lead to seemingly endless discussion, it really is one of the must-play titles of last generation.

Will you be purchasing this definitive version of Bioshock Infinite? Which of the game’s DLC was your favorite?

Bioshock Infinite: Complete Edition is slated to release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 later this year.
