Playing BioChock Infinite on your PC or console is all very well, but what happens if the power goes out or you want a more down-to-earth way to connect with your friends and family over the story of the floating city? Though it likely won’t arrive until after the DLC does, PlaidHatGames are promising a tabletop game called BioShock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia, pitching it to fans of the game with the plea, “Your mother Columbia cries out as foreigners and anarchists threaten her virtue - will you not take up arms and defend her?”
Based on the description and the list of included parts, it sounds like BioShock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia will bear a certain resemblance to games like Risk and Warhammer, with separate dice for combat and Sky-Line use, Action Cards, World Event Cards, and units of troops that can be directed by the players.
The video game’s protagonist’s, Booker and Elizabeth, are described as an “unpredictable and dangerous” force that cause problems for both factions as they make their way through the city, though it’s hinted that players can also turn the interference of the two characters to their own advantage.
BioShock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia won’t be available for another 2-5 months, but you can currently pre-order it from the site to get a $25 discount from the RRP. Players who pre-order will also receive a bonus “Enraged Songbird” card that gives them the ability to control Elizabeth and the Songbird within the game.
That’s not all. As if the Handyman and the Songbird weren’t already enough to handle, how about adding creepers, zombies and Endermen into your BioShock Infinite experience? A player who goes by the pseudonym ilikecutepeople has painstakingly built a map of Columbia in Minecraft, with rails and mine-carts in the stead of BioShock Infinite’s Sky-Line transport system. The Minecraft version of Columbia rivals the Game of Thrones King’s Landing map that we saw earlier this year in terms of the hours of work that must have gone into it.

The mine cart jumping from one set of rails to the next is a cool touch, and the exploration video is nicely edited, particularly with the accompanying music. According the uploader of the video, the creator of this map is now “working on a new, more exact replica of Columbia,” which may be made available for download in the future. Of course, to create a particularly accurate representation of the city it would probably help to lace certain parts of it with TNT, in order to recreate the destruction from the game.
What do you think of these two new additions to the BioShock Infinite universe? Have you seen any other fan creations that are worth sharing? Let us know in the comments.
